Cyanotype – printmaking process using a sensitizer containing combined ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When these chemicals are mixed and exposed to light, a blue hue is created.

Workshops
I taught the Toledo Grows team how to make cyanotype prints as a YAAW senior apprentice in 2023. Here, we went outside and watched how the sensitizer reacted to UV exposure before creating designs.

I had the opportunity to host two different workshops at Perrysburg High School during the Spring 2023 Jacket U sessions. I hosted two 45-minute workshops where I explained the chemistry behind cyanotype and instructed a demo where students (14-18) created a print and a bookmark.

In Spring 2022, my art teacher gave me the opportunity to host a workshop for her darkroom photography students. I showed them how to use the sensitizer to create prints using their photo negatives.
